Apple and Broadcom on 5G? Cool?
Was not Qualcomm the supplier for 5G modems for Apple? What’s neat about this new collaboration? Apple is very smart. While everyone is getting weak, they destroy competitors.
This is great news for my (dividend) stock portfolio. Broadcom news already a high performer but this is going to be awesome!
We have a lot of important wireless components being made in Colorado, they just need those from us and are working on developing their own 5G I presume.

This is not a replacement of the qcom modem. That's something that they are trying to make in-house. This is a deal for FBAR filters and some other wireless parts that Apple already buys from Broadcom. This is an extension of that
It normally starts with those kind of collaboration and extends to bigger relationships. I guess Broadcom accepted the ownership of the joint development with Apple. And potentially they will be focused more on fabrication. Do you have different idea?
OP… it isn’t as simple as it looks…Broadcom deal is nothing new. It’s just that an extra component in iPhones will be from Broadcom… that’s it…every year, these components keep switching from Qualcomm to skyworks… skyworks to Qorvo.. Qorvo to Broadcom…. Since it’s a multi year deal only on this FBAR filters, they are going to use BRCM chips for a couple of years… One thing that should be understood… building modem is not same as building 5G chips… it’s way way way more complicated..Apple has been struggling from 4-5 years to make their modem work… this would help understand
This is just a feel-good press release to serve all parties’ interests. Apple claims they’re investing in US. Broadcom looks good before VMware deal I guess. HFT algos go berserk for a while to allow pump and dump. Nothing new in the deal, run of the mill. Keep uttering 5G and AI once in a while to stay relevant.

Could be 5g RFFE components. Qualcomm currently has their own solution, but if apple is to use their own modern they would probably want to use a different company for RFFE
