When you see company's general counsel appearing on Bloomberg and everywhere else, things certainly look to be nastier than anticipated in Qualcomm vs Apple https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-12-18/qualcomm-says-apple-needs-to-take-china-iphone-ban-seriously With already slowing iPhone growth, ban in China and heavy reliance on iPhone sales, is Apple doomed? Neither party are willing to settle and as they go to trial things can get much dirtier. In do or die situation, Apple will have more to loose than Qualcomm in my view.
Services business is fueled by shit loads of 💰 Apple earns from iPhone business (~$40 B last quarter), as iPhone business loses steam so will the service business with lower quality services and software issues. Ecosystem play I agree but it is hard to keep people locked in ecosystem unless you keep innovating. On computing, I think surface business is already giving Apple run for its money. As far as smartphones are concerned, I don't see any unique feature that's not in Android. Google pixel is doing amazing job with 📷 and everything else on Android on par with iOS if not better.
Surface LOL
Agree with the rest of the argument, except Surface part!
The only saving grace will be the cash they have. What can they do with it..
This. Anything’s possible if that pile of cash is spent wisely(think Tesla).
Apple sold 46.889 million iphones last quarter and generated $37.1 billion which is 29% increase in year over year revenue. It’s hardly as bad as people make it sound. This is just iphones..
News and financial news exist to help you lose money. Look beyond the news.
The point is apple's revenue from iPhone is too high that their revenue from other sources are not gaining attraction. The services revenue is itself a billion dollar business. So even if iPhones are halted their existing users are premium uses hence they might generate more revenue. Also their ecosystem is tight so the probability for an user to leave is low.
