Looking to check market worthiness. Recently promoted L5 at google, can I consider Principal PM L7 at Amazon. My peers are already Head of product at Amazon. Mention the level that I should try.

Why is our country owned by Israel? I don't want my tax dollars fund genocide. How can we stop this nonsense?
Likely one level up to Amazon L6 from Google L5. L7 really unlikely you’re a true SME or industry expert.
Amazon L6 is already L5 at google, 1 level up would be L7
What I meant was you’re currently barely equivalent to Amazon L6 (especially since you just got promoted into L5 at Google) so you’d be getting another promotion to get L7. Don’t think it’s happening unless you’re an SME. Go ahead and give it a try with recruiting; I’m sure the hm or the interview loop will level you appropriately.
How much experience you have OP? Is it all PM experience?
I'd say go for L7, but you might wet yourself up for failure of your doc writing game isn't on point.
I think a very senior L5 might have a chance at L7 PMT, but for a new promo it's unlikely.
Amazon L6 should be okay. L7 is directors in some cases.!
I’m in Product too and I also got 1 level higher than Meta at Amazon without trying so def L6 and L7 is a stretch but why not
You are barely equivalent to a low performing L6 at Amazon(industry hire) as a newly promoted L5 at Google. Data on Levels.fyi is stale and based on comp. Amazon updated their comp bands. To have a shot at L7 at Amazon, you need to be high performing L6 at Google. You might have a slight chance at non-tech L7 PM role but close to 0 chance at PMT L7. You can try but even if you manage to secure a L7 interview, there is a 99.99% chance you will be down leveled especially in this market. Amazon L7 scope is huge. I have seen Amazon L7 move to Google L7 and many Amazon L6 move to Google L6. It’s more of a lateral move these days.
Every time I see a thread like this (where someone assumes that they are ready to make a diagonal move between companies, partly because they think life at the other company must be easier than their life today) I truly want the OP to get the job. Partly because if they're really that good, it's always cool to watch rocketship individuals rocketship. But more because know-it-alls make great PIP fodder and we always welcome voluntary self-sacrifices. Go ahead and interview. I sincerely hope you get an offer - but please don't complain about being "down-leveled" to a job that still demands more and different things than you're doing today. And don't complain about Focus in 2023. And don't complain about no offer or even no interview (both of which are also possible in the current environment). Please let us know how it goes!
Y’all get paid to much
Lol L5 at Google wants 7 at Amazon ?
Actually that’s the correct mapping. I was getting an L4 at google and an L6 at aws
It’s not the correct mapping. It’s about 1 level difference for the same pay and seniority. L5 Google is L6 PMT at Amazon.
