Recruiter from a third party staffing firm reached out to me about a 6 month software engineering contract role in LA that had a max salary range up to $52/hr. I know contractors at Google don’t get paid as much as FTE, but that range seems ridiculous. That’s literally less than what I make as a contractor with 3 YOE right now. Also from what I’ve heard, the conversion rate for someone at FAANG to FTE is extremely low.
Google pays the staffing firm not the contractor and does not (and cannot without co-employment risk) influence the rate paid by the staffing firm. A rate that low means the staffing firm is taking an enormous chunk.
Yeah, this was an Indian staffing firm so I feel like I was getting ripped off hard
Contract jobs aren't worth it. Low pay and no advantage since loop is the same. Do yourself a favor and stay.
Worked out great for me, but I got rolled over to full time in 3 months
You can get much more, however depends on level. I’d only take it if there’s an option to convert or you got nothing else on the plate
Thats how much a staffing firm is paying you, not G. G probably pays much higher.
I was a contractor prior becoming to full time. I gotten $138/h. I understand there is a range that you can negotiate if the hiring manager likes you. Fyi: I was recruited from a competitor company.

How big are the balls of Google to lay off thousands and then do 70 BILLION in stock buyback?
Think of it as a really long term internship and you’ll understand.
