Are Indian Tech interviewers aggressive towards their own kind ?

Disclaimer: I am an Indian myself so no racist viewpoints here. I interviewed with many interviewers but felt that Indian interviewers were too aggressive and unrealistic on the interviewee. This happened at Amazon, but thought it is the company and not the person. Same thing happened at multiple places and these were only fellow Indians being aggressive. I did not find similar behavior by other ethnicities. I feel they try to show that they know more than you and to discredit the interviewee's answers. It is not about testing the knowledge of the interviewee but stock their own inflated ego. PS: Not all were ass holes, some were quite good. But the general trend I found was Indians were aggressive to their own kind in the interviews. Did anyone have similar experience ?

Most consultancy vendors prefer desis vs non desis. This might get deleted or downvoted but in general, I feel like they wanted to feed their own ego. This is from my own experience who had more interviews, 7 to be exact, to trying to get into a consultancy job at Tesla, with all desi interviewers vs less than 7 interviews for a FTE position

Yep, I have experienced it as well. Just last week, during one of my on-sites, the guy was asking me technology specific questions which are not relevant to the job I was interviewing for. He was asking questions from what he knew and was good at, without even considering whether I know them or if it's relevant to the role. I answered them in a technology agnostic way and he was like oh can you tell me how exactly framework xyz does it. Basically he wanted to show that he knew more than me about a particular framework.

Wow, this behavior is striking similar to what I experienced.

Which company was this ?

Atlassian hhdhjvd May 23, 2021

No. They are egoistic. They want to reject candidates and lord over them because of their perceived superiority complex and feel better about themselves

Cisco bifunction May 23, 2021

Op, that happens most of the time. It's human nature to feel good on someone' failure. It boosts the ego. It is a system you can change from the inside. Once you make into those companies, be kind and respectful towards the candidates.

Yes, I know. We as Indians should do better job at this collectively is what I feel. Ego should have no place during interview.

I have noticed that pattern too

I've noticed this too. I know it's a fail with a indian interviewers. I'm east Asian but I feel the same.

How's your interview experience with chinese interviewers? I am from the same place as you are.

Univision Communications dueuzwr May 24, 2021

I had an interview with FB with a Chinese interviewer. I had a hard time understanding the accent but overall it wasn’t as demeaning as the indian
