I have a friend who received an offer for Microsoft Seattle office as L59 (this is a supposition since they have no work experience) and their total comp hits 190k. This offer seems waaay above what Microsoft pays for L59, and is on par with offers from other big techs. This person is completing their PhD though, maybe it could be related. Is that kind of offer common?

Horrible Netflix ML interview experience
Can’t be a 59. Probably a 60 or 61 offer
Including sign on I knew people getting L59 offers out of undergrad (with prior Microsoft internships and competing offers) that were close to this 5 years ago. I’m guessing they’ve bumped at least the salary bands since then, and the offer in question may include sign-on or even relo
This is really high for L59, when I was at Microsoft 190k is the TC for L61/62
PhD != new grad
My friend is working for a base of 135k at L60 in Seattle.
I’m a L61 with base 126
Seriously ? Are you working at Seattle location ? When did you join ?
Aspire hires with MBA or from other higher education programs don't come in at 59, Corp equiv of 62 usually

what do you mean "they"?? Why can't you just use he or she ?
Yup. It just felt wrong reading through it.
Does it matter?
can you please let me know the org that is hiring ?
Is it true that if one get hired at L59 in India, after 1 year the candidate will be eligible for relocation to Seattle on L1 visa?
Really?
Anyone is eligible for L1 after one year of work, but yes the higher levels get more L1 visa acceptance
Nope it’s because of PhD and not sure why he is taking a L59 that’s sooo down level for a PhD
Yeah PhD should be L61-62
so there's no way a regular new grad could be receiving these kinds of numbers?
