The data on levels.fyi mentions that (screenshots attached). Am I missing something? Do people I put their salaries with wrong information on #years of experience?
For Google, some rock star APM quickly rises through the rank, and get to L6(senior PM) within 5 years that may be possible. There are also always reporting errors. Some times they may have inputted 3 years at the company but are interpreted as 3yoe.
When I open any individual data point, it does have those numbers correct - 1 yr at company, less than 5 years as PM.
No need to look at corner cases. I am sure sometimes there are reporting errors or some ppl are just stella. Go focus on things that are more meaningful. Comparison is a theif of joy
Lots of people also don’t divide their initial RSU grant by the vesting schedule, which inflates RSU comp by 3-4x
+1 to this. The UI for sharing data here is super confusing.
You are literally zooming into the statistical tail that probably represents top 5% and then making a click bait title. So stupid
Obviously the director at Google has more than 5 years of experience. So either the filter is broken or people are reporting BS.
