When Musk laid off Twitter staff, it reminded other company CEOs of redundancies.
Leading indicator but only for EV companies. They just can’t compete with Chinese companies.
Tesla is struggling domestically by not priotizing quality and availability of spare parts both of which played a critical role in driving up insurance costs and increasing vehicle depreciation. Tesla had to aggressive price cuts which further hurt vehicle depreciation mainly because they Ramped up production too rapidly. On top of that now you have BYD and Xiaomi in China eating into market share there along with slew of new EVs from western automakers. Their failure to quickly release new models like entry level car is going to start hurting them.
I did my part to ensure the vote tally stays at 50:50.
Elon Musk used to be a fairly brilliant business person, but he’s gone off the deep end. I was looking at buying a Tesla but given their anti-right-to-repair stance and some of the horror stories I’ve heard about getting parts and service done, I was already a bit hesitant when he started spouting off insane nonsense. In short, I think Tesla’s days of market share growth are over. Instead of increasing quality and efficiency in the manufacturing process, now they’re just flailing around while Musk snorts ketamine and hobnobs with oligarchs. I don’t think the layoffs at Tesla are a leading or a lagging indicator for the broader job market, but an indicator for the general public being sick of Musk being an asshole.
The company is in trouble. Cope however you want. Elon is running multiple companies into the ground simultaneously while tweeting nonsense all day, and the board does nothing.
The one who created it shall destroy it as well. Brahma and Shiva all in one!
