I heard about Amazon working you like a slave but damn this is ridiculous, I just want to see if this is how others experience Amazon or if people who work here are just slave minded and work themselves like a dog and like it… Since last October things have gotten horrible, let me explain Managing 2-3 Projects at once Multiple backlog tickets Constantly getting complaints from my manager about hitting CR Stats - # of CR’s Pushed (This is okay) - # of CR’s I commented on - # of CR’s I approved for others - Average revisions per CR - Fix it Day or Hackathon almost every damn month where you MUST take up another task… - Then when Oncall happens you still need to manage all those 10+ tickets with your projects - Writing Design Docs - Making sure your Gap Analysis and Growth Plan Docs are always filled out All this while having your manager constantly complaining at you to hit numbers, constantly berating you about deadlines of your projects and if you didn’t have time for your docs and growth plan or gap analysis doc you will hear complaints Oh god forbid you miss a couple days going to the office but you work at home… Oh by the way, I got coworkers pinging me at 11PM or Sunday at 6am… and I mistakenly gave one of them my phone number and this person instead of slacking me texts me about work stuff because i turned off notifications A few weeks ago I was horribly sick, while oncall with 10+ tickets, managing 2 projects close to deadline or past deadline, and I got people coming at me pressuring me to get it done and a fucking coworker trying to give me more work to do, all while I am literally struggling to keep working due to horrible headaches and dizziness This is Amazon??? Seriously? Please can someone confirm if other big techs or FAANGs are like this? Tc 207k
Sounds like a nightmare
Sounds horrible, come to MS. It won’t be this bad in most teams.

Yea Amazon us truly dog shit of employer
But their LP principle is be earths best employer
Haha but they carefully added the keyword strive.
Is this aws?
“Managing 2-3 Projects at once” Leading? Or just involved in? “Multiple backlog tickets” wtf does this even mean? just that you’re multi-tasking on multiple SIM tickets? “# of CR’s Pushed (This is okay)” That’s kinda the most key metric most of the time “# of CR’s I commented on” “# of CR’s I approved for others” Just start spamming shit like “This code is great!” on CRs that already have at least one other approval and just give the 2nd ship-it blindly “Average revisions per CR” Do smaller CRs, which would help with CR count Also, whenever there’s feedback, say “is that ALL of the feedback?” — should make it rather hard to take more than just 1 more revision “Fix it Day or Hackathon almost every damn month where you MUST take up another task…” That’s just a scheduling/prioritization trick. You don’t have to do other sprint work on those days. “Then when Oncall happens you still need to manage all those 10+ tickets with your projects” That’s a no. You can be replying and managing the tickets you’ve created for others, but you absolutely shouldn’t be doing actual progress on your own sprint work. “Writing Design Docs” That should be a SIM ticket. It’s just different work, not extra work. I personally wish Apple did more design docs instead of just charging straight into the project and doing stupid and clearly incorrect decisions that I can’t properly push back on when it’s already fucking done “Making sure your Gap Analysis and Growth Plan Docs are always filled out” That’s a thing everywhere, but it’d be a good idea to allocate a day for that in the sprint budget instead of just throwing it on top of sprint work “god forbid you miss a couple days going to the office but you work at home…” literally 2018 “coworkers pinging me at 11PM or Sunday at 6am” ignore them
Ppl who work in these sorts of companies are just constantly sick, burnt out , all that over working mess.
I've never experienced anything like that
My buddy keeps telling me to go to Meta, I am considering trying now
