Perf reviews focus on impact, and the revenue impact of this one is likely to negate any other impact that person had. So, keeping them around wouldn't be fair to other employees.
@snap why would you fire someone who knows what went wrong and is one of the few who has enough context to make the system more reliable.

According to New York Times they sent a team to one of the data centers to try to manually reset the servers.
The servers are worldwide. If one data center goes down the other should pick up the slack. Have they sent teams to reset all the servers around the world ?
