I keep seeing new job postings on LinkedIn but I know they all have hiring freeze + layoffs. Are these job postings real?
No, LinkedIn is a bad platform to check for real job openings IMO. They just recycle some old content w/o any validation.
Agreed. Keep seeing “Reposted 3 days ago” while the listing has like 1.2k applicants. Surely, there are viable candidates amongst the throngs of applicants
Any other job search site you recommend?
I think it’s safe to assume like 80% of job listings are shell opportunities. I keep seeing competent people post about their job hunts over the last 6 months and the numbers offer support for this thesis
Not real
Even internal job board postings ( in G) are mostly obsolete.
I have received 2 emails in last 2 days from consulting companies about openings at Amazon. I AM working for Amazon right now, and worried if I’ll be laid off. Irony!
Yes
Backfills still happen during hiring freeze
Resume farming
Very few of those jobs are real. You have to find out on a case by case basis. But whether they are real or not, you will be among the tens of thousands of people applying to them. So chances of a recruiter seeing your resume are low to none.

Building a pipeline. Recruiters trying to stay busy.
If this was the case, You wouldn't see a LinkedIn post. Recruiters would reach us over inmails for pipelining. While organisations are letting go of people, They are hiring for critical positions (mostly backfills).
Exactly. They are farming. Job postings are one of the biggest Unregulated Data Collection Services in the world. You give all this information willingly for a chance at a position. Of course the data is sold.
