I'm the ML world the pre-2020 unicorns usually around gig based companies like Uber, Lyft, Airbnb, etc... Have sponsored major ML conferences and attracted ex FAANG talent to their ranks. A career in these companies is seen as legitimate FAANG level. Now post 2020 we have unicorns like Snowflake, Plaid, Splunk, Coinbase, Stripe). From reading blind it looks like TC can match FAANG. My question is do these companies have as strong a reputation in ML and AI? Remember! Not talking about the business model or future of business, just quality of talent and technical reputation, especially in ML and AI space. L62, 5 yoe, $204k
>it looks like TC can match FAANG I just signed an offer at G. Neither Snowflake’s nor Plaid’s offers were close. At Coinbase I didn’t get past the hiring manager. TPgM.
What is the definition of better?
Subjective, but generally a career in these places can open doors
It depends on the product and business need. It makes sense for Uber, Lyft, Pins, Snap, etc to invest in ML because it greatly benefits their platform and they have lots of users to collect data. I don’t think ML has a good posture in most of the “post-2020” companies you’ve listed. They might have one or two use cases, but I don’t see their product benefitting greatly from it.
Agreed was thinking the same
Splunk ? That too twice ? 😂
