Hi Folks, I come to realize that I can't play or deal with politics at workplace. Looks like I can't escape politics in these(MAANG) corporate tech companies. Thought about academia (doing a PhD -> Prof.). Found that politics exist there as well. I understand that humans are complex species and politics is inevitable when maximizing money earned is the company's goal. BUT, are there any non-corporate tech companies or corporate tech companies with less politics that has talented and passionate folks? I heard Google has less politics from a friend. Is that true? Chan Zuckerberg Initiative looks interesting. Looking for something similar.

Some companies are definitely better than others, but there's politics even (especially?) at small shops. Look for a company that doesn't describe themselves as a family, and folks get a lot of shit done. You're less likely to get swept up into an emotionally charged shit show.
