Work out everyday for 2 hours. Cut back on rice and sugar. You're golden

Apple fullCircle OP Sep 12, 2019

2 hours everyday is brutal af

Wellington Management hmm19 Sep 12, 2019

Walk daily for an hour for around 10k steps. Try working out on alternate days. Definitely cut down carbs. You’ll see the results in 6 months or so! Not brutal compared to what all you have to cut down after diabetes!

That’s kinda racist

Apple fullCircle OP Sep 12, 2019

No why is it racist? Doc said I need to be careful because I am Indian and I am genetically predisposed. Good advice IMO

Twitter jkkugdyh Sep 12, 2019

All humans have the same genes. Don’t go to racist doctors

Capital One harasho Sep 12, 2019

Certain genetics suck when it comes to diabetes, I would take your doctor’s precautions and start making healthier choices.

Amazon 2ud73h2fl Sep 12, 2019

This. Be healthier. Diabetes is some shit you DEFINITELY do not want to deal with.

@Amazon: personal experience?

Apple LSjj31 Sep 12, 2019

I’m Indian and I haven’t checked if I had diabetes I probably do but to go and get it checked costs way too much here lol.

Apple darkMod Sep 12, 2019

You got insurance and it’s a very simple test

Apple LSjj31 Sep 12, 2019

I’m actually not at Apple, I worked a part time job there while I am in college for a year and half, I quit when I got a internship. I graduate in May 2020 I want to rejoin hopefully in the future, their insurance was soo good.

You need to change what you EAT. Exercise does not change how your pancreas is being attacked by inflammatory reactions from the food you eat.

Intel D’s🥜 Sep 12, 2019

Steer clear of over-processed food with tons of sugar, avoid dairy(milk/cheese), and avoid meat (especially fatty meats in Salmon/catfish/beef/chicken)

1. Ketogenic or near ketogenic diet. (Google it) essentially zero or super low carbs. 2. Intermittent fasting 3. Long walks and exercise 3. Glymepiride and metformin. From an A1C of 13 (seriously and dangerously high) when first diagnosed 3 years ago, I am down to 7. Target is 5 of course. I plan to do this without insulin. Yeah, forget most Indian foods. That's probably the reason for the high incidence rate. Indian food being super carb heavy, puts undue pressure on the pancreas for insulin generation. After a while, the pancreas become desensitized to the elevated sugar levels and start shutting down insulin production. You are only prediabetic. You can reverse it. What was your A1C and how old are you? DM if you desire discretion .

Apple darkMod Sep 12, 2019

Thanks for the detailed post. My A1c is 5.9 and I am 27. How old are you if you don’t mind me asking? And how overweight were you when you were diagnosed? Also how did you get to A1C of 13 without any warning symptoms?

Apple darkMod Sep 12, 2019

I find it horrifying that 30% of Indians on Blind have diabetes.

VMware eIUP54 Sep 12, 2019

diet is the hardest thing to follow for Indians. need less carbs and much much more fat. plenty of materials online touting the benefits of ketogenic diet so read up on it if ur serious about changing ur lifestyle before it gets to u

Google beJezos Sep 13, 2019

This.

Uber ciUb50 Sep 12, 2019

Bike to work 2/3 days a week regularly. It will be reversed in 4-5 months

Google beJezos Sep 13, 2019

Not that simple. But biking will help.

Google souledMonk Sep 13, 2019

How do they separate genetic predisposition from the fact that Indians mostly have such a shitty(and carb heavy) diet? Source - Indian

Google beJezos Sep 13, 2019

Genetics matters of course. My grandma, mom and I carry the diabetic genetics. Most of the rest of my family, doesn't. Even with their high carb habits. It's the conjunction of both issues that makes it a real problem for Indians.

Apple darkMod Sep 13, 2019

I think when doctors use the term genetic risk, they mean risk after all external variables (like diet) are controlled for.
