I am offered a commercial contractual role at a faang company (not in the states). But only base salary, no bonus and stock options. Is it a good idea to join?#tech #google #facebook #apple #amazon
Can be helpful if you struggle with getting to onsite or with cold apply. I have only one well known brand in my resume and it was my only contract role. Recruiters hit up my cold applies to ask about my experience there. They care much less about current FTE role at unknown startup.
oh ok. They are obsessed with big brands lol
Do not do it. You will be treated as second class citizen and your manager will expect you to work overtime but with no overtime pay. If you do not work overtime, your manager will provide negative feedback to your agency and the respective FB liaison, which will essentially mean that you will not be hired as an FTE after your contract ends.
omg so bad...this is a manipulation act
Oh forgot to mention that you will get attitude from the FTEs, who will assign tasks to you with minimal information, for example, no test-case, and in the event they do provide a test-case it will fail to work and you will asked to debug and fix that. So now you will two tasks instead of the one that was originally assigned. But your manager will call the process a "hack culture" and will expect you to "move fast" meaning finish both the tasks in a few hours. It is bad for contractors because they do not provide peer reviews to other co-workers.
Depends. It’s tough to convert to FTE, but having FANG on resume (even as contractor) can be a big boost when you start looking for your next gig
Tough to convert? They say it is not that hard and the contract itself is extendable yet the pay is 25% lower than my current pay
It’s possible but very hard don’t be fooled but depends on the faang I guess
