What types of questions can I expect in a software engineer phone interview with Asana if I have just under 3 YOE? From Glassdoor almost all of the reviews mention an OOP design question. Can I really expect that they’ll ask me an OOP design question? I’m used to being asked system design questions in interviews but not OOP. Wondering if the OOP design questions are mostly for the new grads? Has anyone with similar YOE interviewed with them recently and can shed some light? Not asking for the exact questions but just a better idea of the types of questions. TC: 190k
They repeat Glassdoor questions over and over again. And no, oop design is for experienced individuals too. Their expectation is a bit inflated I believe.
Hi chaac. Recently interviewed and accepted. I’m pretty biased but I enjoyed this interview loop the most out of my other options. My phone screen was one algorithmic design question and one oop/ design question. The design question asks you to model some real world system that you might commonly encounter.
Awesome! Congrats on accepting the offer! Were you ever asked a distributed system design then? Like maybe in the on-site? Or were all the design questions just OOP?
I wasn’t asked a distributed system design question but I don’t know if it’s in the loop.
Update: for my phone interview, I was asked a LC medium and an OOP design question. Won’t share the exact questions though due to NDA
Don’t bother. Their interview is the worst. They ask you super hard questions for a company that thinks is a trillion dollar one but is creating a project management product.
I'm sorry you had that experience. We really try hard to ask questions that don't take some genius black magic to solve.
Yep. I’m sure you do.
