Why do Indians support Israel so much( on blind surprisingly) when Israel really thinks 💩of them ?
I was in a happy hour earlier this week and we got into this talk about the layoffs that are happening. One guy brought up an interesting point: "If you suspect a company you're interviewing with could layoff soon, ask for a sign on bonus" I mean ideally you don't join the company in the first place... but sometimes the TC and/or the career opportunity is tempting. In that case I could see the reason to "ask" for a sign on bonus. ask != get it... but anyway, would you ask in these circumstances? This does not make sense at all. Sign off is part of the offer negotiation, which happens prior to the offer. If parties don't agree, there is no offer to be rescinded. There was never an offer...

Always ask
Read the fine print, even if they lay you off before a year you still owe it back (usually). Messed up part is tax is taken out and you have to give back the whole sum, even though you only got 60% of it.
I don’t think it’s reasonable to ask employees for signing bonus refund if the employer decides to terminate the employment without cause.
Read the contract, ‘fair’ or ‘reasonable’ is something companies give zero shits about. I just read mine…same thing.

No you shouldn't. My peers would rescind any offer to anyone asking for one.
