A recruiter from Microsoft has reached out to me for the Azure big data team. Recruiters from google and Lyft have already reached out. Am I correct in thinking Microsoft won’t pay as much as the other 2? I’m thinking of just declining. What about twilio? They also reached out. Would there be anything wrong with asking the recruiter how high TC can go for the role they are recruiting me for?
MSFT can match if they really want you
Not in my experience. Hiring manager went all the way to VP, with emails for over a week. The best offer he could get was $230k TC in Azure. This was at least $100k less than my other lowest offer
They didn't really want you.
I like this. That’s what I’m gonna do from now on.
no they actually prefer that. saves everyone wasting time
I would always recommend asking if there is a budget and approximate range before giving any numbers. You can reply- yeah interested across the range, only the upper end, I'm over that, if its given to you.
Microsoft will pay as much when you join. The compensation 3/4 years in will probably be lower.

Married or people who have a partner, do you still feel bored?
Supposedly (according to blind) Azure will pay as much as / more than places like FB for external hires if they like you
Not true
Not true, I had an offer for senior software engineer L63 in Azure with $230k TC.
