Looks like the tech companies are making it a trend. Now Atlassian is taking advantage of it https://www-atlassian-com.cdn.ampproject.org/c/s/www.atlassian.com/blog/announcements/atlassian-team-update-march-2023/amp #tech
Oof, you know when Atlassian is affected that things aren’t going well
Not many swe it seems
Looks none, if I read correctly
3% engineering
Block is next
All these layoffs and not a single executive is axed who over hired or over committed
Not true. Execs were first to go
Not without a golden parachute
They can keep laptops for free!
They laid off the entire security team in India.
Atlassian: 2 Month WARN ACT + 7 months of severance = 15 weeks of severance Other companies: 2 Month WARN ACT + 15 weeks of severance
Is it 15 weeks severance for laidoff attlasians… thata huge
No other companies are doing what you’re saying here. Atlassian is doing the same thing as everybody else.
This shit is so performative for Wall Street. They even said in the blog it’s not driven by finances. Simply doing the dance for Wall Street to appear focused and prudent
I understand that’s how it may seem from the outside looking in, but we were growing way too quickly and definitely overhired. At the start of 2022 we were 7,000 employees, and ended 2022 at 12,000. Literally *3 months ago* our #1 company initiative was to grow to 25,000 employees. Executives were saying if we want to get where we need to be, we need to have 25k employees, so even as some companies did layoffs and enforced hiring freezes, we continued to grow.
Definitely and trend and none of them Need to
