Hi everyone, I am only a junior in college right now and i thought itd be great if i could get some insight from you guys who are more experienced in the swe workforce. Currently, i have accepted an offer for Atlassian as a SWE intern for the summer but today i got an interview request for Apple’s Machine Learning Engineer Internship. My main goal is becoming a SWE so im leaning towards atlassian atm However, if i do the ML internship at Apple, is it easy to transfer to a full time SWE the following year? Compensation wise for new grad, i see that atlassian has a higher pay but not significantly: Ive read atlassian new grad swe salary is about: 195K TC apple: about 150k-180k TC, not too sure though I had a couple questions: Should i tell my recruiter that i already have a summer job and ask to interview for fall? This would risk losing the interview entirely. Should i say i have no offer for the summer and that ill interview, then if i get an offer, ask to move to fall? Or should i push the interview for the summer and reneg atlassians offer for the summer? Thanks everyone, please comment if you have insights! #atlassian #apple #internship
Stop thinking about TC in your first year and see which opportunity will enhance your career. TC is highly dependent on stock price movement and it doesn’t matter when you’re joining new.
Gotcha, good advice that will be taken. However, is it easy to go from ML -> SWE within apple? My goal is to be working as a software engineer and my decision will more likely come down to whether or not i can end up as a SWE when i reach full time.

Think about it long term. The brand name associated with Apple will take you much farther when looking for the next job after this internship.
i see, will apples name really help that much for new grad recruiting compared to atlassian? Also, when thinking of full time conversion, would taking less pay by going to apple still be more beneficial?
Atlassian is widely known in the industry. But...... Apple is apart of MAANG. If I were you I would attempt to get get both internships. You already have the Atlassian one. When your interviewing at Apple see if you can start at a time that's different from the Atlassian job
