Got a bummer from Atlassian interview. Got this expressionless interviewer , asked a latest medium difficulty question from leetcode. May be he expected that I can't solve it. I wrote bunch of lines while he was looking in another screen. Then he asked me did you copy this from Google šš I solved the problem in that one hour time. I think it can be improvised as well given more time and thought. One hour went by only kinda one way talking. He cut the call at the end abruptly. Later heard from recruiter that first interviewer really liked my code and the second one told my code missing encapsulation and bla bla. I was taken aback by such unresponsive interviewer . Is that kinda common or is that my bad luck ? #atlassian
There was another post about similar disinterested behavior of the interviewer from the same firm, looks pretty common now š¤·āāļø
I had a similar experience, one engineer gave a strong hire. The other one was simply disinterested, or so it seemed. Got my code to compile, with multiple test cases, and yet the feedback was that I didn't use encapsulation. Probably the same interviewer š¤¦āāļø
I have some decent insight into this and this is definitely not the normal circumstance. However we're rapidly hiring right now so its likely people are getting pulled into interviews they don't feel like doing because we need interviewers. This can obviously lead to some occasional interviewers who can't be bothered. Unfortunately it's just luck of the draw anywhere you go.
Seems like the "luck of the draw" affected at least 3 people on this thread š
We've hired 2000 people in the last year so you can imagine the amount of interviews lol. Pretty large for a company just breaching on 7k employees so it doesn't surprise me that some people are probably not always in a good headspace to be an interviewer (not that that's an excuse). I refer quite a few people and very few have mentioned an experience like this but I'm sure it happens. I've personally gone through similar things at other companies. I don't think it's abnormal especially now with virtual interviews to get disinterested interviewers. It sucks but that's why interviewing is always a numbers game.
It used to be good 4 yrs back (well that was relative to me), Old timers were complaining even at that time .. now it is becoming toxic day by day š¤¦š»āāļø
Just bad luck. Sorry. Maybe your interviewer was having a bad day. It might be worth communicating this feedback to the recruiter.
I have my first round after recruiter coming up. What can I expect
Did you make it to Onsite?
can somebody give list of atlassian questions for p4 roles. I heard they are repeated.
Are you done with your Onsite?

Only go to Atlassian if you are going to rewrite Jira. If not, it's not worth it - Recruiters will look at your CV and think "this guy built that crappy software"
Do u have an alternative?
google docs or one note
