Amazon 300 TC first year, 275 TC next 3 years (SDE2) Atlassian 248 TC (P4) Both Seattle Atlassian would be a lot more pleasant with the work life balance, but I’m concerned about long term career growth. The lack of “prestige” from Atlassian worries me. The difference in TC isn’t a big deal to me, so I’m mostly coming at this from a career development perspective. #Amazon #atlassian
Lol. You are a lowly software engineer. What prestige do you really think you have? Anyways, I would go with Atlassian for both career and good WLB.
Lol thanks for the reality check. Reading too much blind can mess with your head.
Atlassian's quality of work is not good, Amazon can offer you more learning and scope
That’s part of what I’m worrying about with Atlassian. That I’ll work a year or two there and have little to show for it. I have those feelings about my current company (Citrix), and would rather not repeat it.
Yea, I dont know abt brand name, it depends, but the technical complexity of problems you will be solving will be really high(ofc you should be in the right team), I am currently working on recommendations systems, I have referred lot of research papers and stuff, and its damn too interesting. Ppl in blind hate amazon because they want to get paid without doing any work.
What product or platform here? What kind of work do you enjoy doing? Also, what is Amazon's return to office strategy, and is being 100% remote a plus or minus for you? (We are permanently flexible which can be a big plus for some folks but have no physical office in Seattle metro which means its WFH forever which can be a minus for some folks.)
It would be the Cloud Security Engineering team. Mostly enjoy doing backend feature work. Not a ton of specific preference within that. The remote thing isn’t a huge factor, but at Amazon it varies by team would need to get some clarity there from my manager
Do you know anything about that team? Seemed like a solid one.

Did you try negotiating with Amazon? They should be able to pay more. If they don’t budge I don’t think your peace of mind is worth an extra 20-30k post-tax.
I did negotiate when I had no other offers, and signed without realizing I could have negotiated harder. Is it possible to negotiate post signing?
The manager clearly wants to keep me, so was thinking of trying to get like 350-360 (the highest Seattle offers on levels.fyi)
