Attrition rate too low? #attrition #Amazon

Up until recently I’ve had a great time at Amazon- challenging new projects, lots of moving parts, great team/business partners. After getting a great performance review I get wind of the tone at the top - “Even though you’re performing well, the attrition rate isn’t as high as it should be in your org so you may not be doing well enough to stay here”. After getting more information I find out that they came up with the appropriate number of employees in my org to push out and replace with outsiders (after all Amazon is a very desired place to work according to linked ins 2017 survey so we don’t want current employees getting in the way of new talent). It’s not even an issue of underperforming but stack ranking to reach for reasons to put the right amount of folk on the dev list to churn them out. Anyone experiencing this and what’s your reaction? #attrition

This is business. Reflect on this the next time you are drinking their Kool-Aid.

What the flaming fuck?? How do you expect people to give their best if that's our attitude towards employees.

You must be young...Amazon is far from a desirable place. The lack of caring for their employees and old internal tech tools will be their downfall. Get the fuck out of there ASAP and go learn something new at a new company that appriciates you. 🤮@Amazon

Many companies are measuring employees through up or out. Fresh and cheap meat arrives all the time
