https://www.cnn.com/2024/03/12/australia/latam-airlines-flight-injuries-new-zealand-tuesday-intl-hnk/index.html “According to the FAA’s directive, when a 787 has been powered continuously for 248 days, it can lose all Alternating Current (AC) electrical power due to the GCU software anomaly. The directive requires a repetitive maintenance task for electrical power deactivation on 787s.” OOM killed?
only worked on MROs, never been to airlines. is it common thing for airlines to leave their plane powered on constantly for 248 days? that seems like a lot
The cause of this incident was almost certainly someone unlocking the pilot seat rail and the pilot sliding forward into the yoke - not exactly a Boeing problem. Keep your seatbelts on because you're in a very complicated machine hurtling close to the speed of sound through air moving almost 100mph relative to you. This one might not have been weather, but it could be!
I tightened the bolts properly this time, so dont look at me.

A plane doesn't magically drop 500ft without something very physical happening and a jetliner especially would hold its pitch pretty well - they're built to have stable handling. This is a "rare" weather event that happens all the time (it's why they tell you to keep your seatbelt on), but it's really trendy to report every minor flaw with Boeing as if they've been caught repairing carbon fiber with a stapler.
