I’d kill to have a decent tech job in san diego, best place ever. Never been to Austin tho
1) San Diego 2) San Diego ... 10) San Diego
Yeah but why?
San Diego. Austin is great, but Texas yo.
Go to austin
San Diego is horrible. I repeat, horrible
Austin. Sd is beautiful but people are dumb as fuck and no career mobility.
I was thinking about Intuit in SD, the neighborhood looks nice, have you been in that office?
Used to work at Intuit in that office. San Diego is wonderful, and so is Intuit SD! Highly recommend
These are both good choices. just don't come to Seattle. it's awful. everyone keeps moving here. we are full.
There's literally no culture at all in San Diego. Their museum of modern art is the size of a Google microkitchen, and anyone with an ounce of creativity goes to LA. I recommend Austin for housing, cheap good beer, and awesome mini tech hub and culture.
Hehe. No MoMa for you.
What’s the tech scene like in San Diego though? Austin has it, not sure about SD.
Not much . Qualcomm is the largest employer here. Intuit and Teradata are here. Microsoft/Nokia was here hut they wrapped up their shop a while back. Illumina pays good for SWE. HP was there in Rancho Bernardo ,not sure of they are still there. Bottomline its Qualcomm unless you want to work in small offices. Google has a facility here mostlu for integration work. Irvine and LA are near to SD and have Amazon, Google(Ad team) , Broadcom offices. Thats about it as far as mobility goes. edit. Intel has a small office here focussed on 5G development. Pays good for SD region
Home prices in Texas have to be weighed against the property tax. That being said, if I had to choose, Austin would prob be more fun.
Yes, I’ve seen that property taxes are more expensive in Austin than the Bay Area and San Diego, if you paid off the home, you end up paying more monthly in Austin and it’s because you don’t have state taxes there.
They have to tax something for revenue.
