Have offers from NTT data (strategy consultant) and IBM (product manager) With either one, I’d have to relocate from Seattle to Texas. Which city should I pick and why? Possible to buy a house on 100k TC there?
Dallas is a much bigger city and has more opportunities. Austin is much more of a college area still but is growing.
Purely financially - Dallas. Mattering on what's important to you in a city it could either way. Austin has better nature, Dallas has better food. There's other stuff as well but it matters what is most important to you.
For the love of God stop coming to Texas. All you clowns are driving up the housing prices. I make 85k 🥜🥜 and can barely afford a house in the ghetto. I've lived here my entire life and the 150k norm for a nice house is now 400k+. STOP
Which one has more Asian girls?
Prolly Dallas. Lots of 3rd generation Vietnamese, Indian, Chinese etc. immigrants. Source: dated a few Asian girls from Dallas back in the day, and visited Austin fairly frequently.
Microsoft is right. Austin has the least diversity of the big cities - dating is not good if you are Asian /Indian in Austin
If you are looking to buy a house maybe dfw. Both are overpriced imo and property taxes are insane in each city. Auto insurance and home insurance are a bit higher in Dfw though from what I’ve heard. Ultimately both suck
Between austin and Dallas I’d pick austin. It’s more expensive if you want to buy a house at 100k salary Dallas is better Austin, you get hit on two ends. Higher rent/cost of living so makes saving difficult and higher price of home.
TC for both?

Dallas has better infrastructure and the individual neighborhoods offer more (less traveling to get what you need) and allows more flexibility on where you might want to live and commute: Austin has little infrastructure and unless you want to commute the rest of your life (like CALI) you’ll want to live next to IBM.
Dallas is cheaper than hyped Austin
I enjoy Dallas, spent about a month there. Just never seen Austin
I like Dallas. Good food and all the amenities of a big city, plus some very nice suburbs still are very affordable. Austin is a great city too especially if you love nightlife and music. But Dallas does have those things too to a lesser degree, so it’s not either or. And the food (barbecue especially) is arguably as good or better than Austin, again just not so steeply hyped. So you can more easily actually get a seat at the popular spots in Dallas. Austin is mega hyped and overpriced at this point IMO.
