Got an offer from both companies and undecided. Autodesk is more stable and Rivian is not that stable with layoffs. Both are similar backend roles. Which is the best? Autodesk TC: 155k, 120k base, 70k RSU/3 years, 10k bonus - remote offer Rivian TC: 180k, 140k base, 120k RSU/4 years, relocation - on site Bay Area I have 2.5YOE and I am currently in low COL area. #rivianautomotive #autodesk
What's the COL for each one? And congrats on the offers!
Thanks! I am in the Midwest currently. Rivian is Palo Alto high COL
Yeah not sure the TC jump is worth it, especially since it's low to high. But idk, I've only ever lived in MCOL. And moving and getting laid off is definitely harder than staying where you are and getting laid off. Did you negotiate Autodesk using the rivian offer? And does Autodesk adjust pay based on COL? If they do, you could always see about getting TC adjusted and moving when the layoff fears are over
Autodesk feels safer from layoffs.
I am leaning Autodesk for this reason
voted autodesk when did you start process?
December
Autodesk and then keep interviewing
You work at Rivian, any reason to avoid?
Remote > onsite. Layoffs might not be done yet either
Autodesk laid off 2%, 250 people on Feb 2nd.
The layoff for Rivian is a blood bath
^This
Rivian gonna lay u off after 6 months. Choose autodesk more safer
$140k base is super weak for Palo Alto. You’ll be eating canned food for a while until you get laid off.
*with roommates.
Can confirm. 105k W2 last year in Palo Alto and I sleep in a shack
Dude remote and LCOL alone worth 50k
Agreed
Rivian is more fun.
Is this a new grad offer?
I just added YOE but it is not a new grad role.
Got it. In lcol both are pretty good offers. Both seem a little risky since theyve both conducted layoffs. Go with your gut and what you’re more interested in
