I had rent through Microsoft an Avis car. I didn’t purchas e additional insurance and I drive with an international driving’s license. Yesterday I have touched the rear bumper of a car in front of me with minimal speed. The lady filed an insurance claim. What is going to happen? #cars
Was the booking done as official business for Microsoft if yes company covers the insurance
Are you an intern at Microsoft? If so, you could have just taken the commute credit and used their shuttle services to commute to and from offices. Even if you are not, I genuinely don't understand how people go around renting cars in an international country without first fully understanding the traffic laws and insurance policies. Driving a different car from your own and in a new country, increases the risk of being involved in an accident. Should have atleast gotten proper insurance.
If you’re in California/Texas/Missouri, Avis doesn’t include liability coverage - you will pay out of pocket for the other person’s damages. Sedgwick will let you know how much you owe. In Washington, Avis provides 10k liability coverage for damage to the other car. If your damage and their depreciation claim doesn’t exceed 10k, you’re in the clear.
Is this for personal rentals too in WA?
Better have your return ticket bought…
What is with msft folks driving without good insurance this is the second post this week😂
Well I'd say the last one was way worse
Should be covered by Microsoft if you signed for it with your employee id and did not have to provide a personal credit card.
Liability coverage is mandatory. So you’re covered for the third party damage by this Did you damage your own car or just the other one
That covers paying the damaged party, who got hit. It doesn't cover the uninsured person causing a loss for Avis. He's still going to have to pay Avis.
When you returned the car to Avis, did you file an accident report? Was there damage done to the Avis vehicle? This will help you when Avis tries to claim damages $$ from you. If the Avis vehicle is out there and someone else is now using the car… how are they going to know to the extent damage was done? Do you have a Chase CC? Sapphire Reserve has vehicle protection- not sure how much coverage, search on Reddit. (Although I think you have to reserve using the Credit card)
Microsoft likely pays for insurance damage to the rental but you're probably liable for damage to her car

High performers, how often do you have slack off days?
Straight to jail, but less than 30 days there. Seriously, the insurance company will contact Avis and negotiate the damage cost, and then Avis will automatically charge you. If you used a credit card it may have partial rental car insurance. Expect to be out of pocket about $2k.
Thank you. I truly appreciate the response. On my side is there something to report ?
No, just wait for Avis to contact you. They will send a letter to the address on your account, and maybe they will call you.
