Hey folks, I know times are tough for many but I'd warn against coming to Pinterest. A few reasons - releveling recently done to demote most tech ICs specifically - PIPs all over to save money on layoff severance - basically no growth on users and revenue. Stock is overvalued vs peers - toxic environment (most I've ever seen which is bonkers vs what they convey). All EMs/directors in my org were ex Amazon and only hired from there (which has fine ICs but horrible managers) - morale is horrible, CEO destroyed the culture completely, including canceling the company's staple annual morale event (which was cheap and not fancy at all) - not founder led anymore, CEO doesn't even use the product - most c-levels came from retailers rather than tech, including CTO See Blind pulse score and reviews for Pinterest. My sentiment is shared by most. #pinterest

Pinterest had a very good VP and SVP of engineering in 2018/2019, but they lost both. Not good after that. They could never figure out exactly product direction and how to make money compared to how much they spend. This is due to founder not being able to retain executive talent. Just goes to show you how important execs really are. Every company needs to avoid Amazon EMs. IMO they destroy every company they go to. Every time I run into one it’s terrible. Bring their terrible, toxic culture. Only time I will respect them is they disagree with Amazon performance values and care about people and realize their mistake. Uber used to have same problem, but fixed a lot of it. Not perfect, but better than before.

The worse part is the culture. 🍞 y the new CEO is terrible(he was already badly reviewed in Google before) CD the new people head is also terrible. That being said, if you didn't get an offer from FAANG, pins is still a solid choice in the second tier. Compared to peers Pins is still paying pretty good, although the releveling did make future increase potential worse for many of us, but that is in the long run, who knows.... L5, 6YOE, currently 390k
All C suite will think this way: All employees are still here because of money. There’s no such thing as good and evil. So why the hell care about the culture. Just squeeze engineers as much as possible to get the better company revenue and user growth.
