Hey Blind fam, I had a PM interview with Asana recently, and I'm not sure if anyone else had the same experience, but I had a pretty poor one. I'll start with the recruiter phone screen, she seemed extremely tired and super uninterested in the work I was doing. She also asked me that we need to do the interviews as quickly as possible, so I asked if we should expedite the interview process. She said hold on slow down there, let's see if you can even make it to the next round. Even make it to the next round, sounded so condescending. Well the recruiter gave me a bad taste. The next round was even more strange. For some reason, the "design a product for the blind" was completely over a phone call. I'm very used to using g hangout for these types of questions bc you can draw out your solution and show the interviewer, but for some reason they didnt even provide a g hangouts link. The entire time, the PM interviewing me just kept saying great with minimal followup questions. I ended up not making it to the next round. Has anyone else had a poor experience interviewing with them? I'm a little stung by the poor experience but hey everything happens for a reason, and maybe it just wouldn't have worked out for me anyways. ok rant over
i feel like its asana folks just commenting on there. it did feel very elitist and almost as though they were looking for ex FAANG ppl
Asana product sucks.. agree?
agreed
Im interested! Love to learn. How long did you use it for? And in what capacity?
Off topic: Can the Blind app be used by the blind?
😮 makes u think
My eng interview was all about chess, not one of those chess problems, where you have to place N knights or queens, but the actual game of chess. I was like, what are you people working on over there :|
i dont understand how asana is related to chesss, so thats a strange interview question
To be fair, most of us don’t work on anything close to leetcode either so you can’t really say that lol. It was probably just a design interview.
I had a similar experience with Asana. This was one of the worst interviews I’ve had in my professional career. On the initial phone screen the recruiter did not show up or send an email prior to the call that we would have to reschedule. The hiring director had to step in and reschedule with me. When I finally got interview with Asana the recruiter was disengaged. They did apologize but it was so disappointing and unprofessional. I felt they wasted my time and theirs.
Weird, I had a really good experience with Asana interviews, the people were super nice and accommodating. though towards the end the recruiter guilt tripped me big time....
That's because you're from Google
I wasn’t when I interviewed with them
I’ve a negative experience. I never had the opportunity to talk to the HM. At the last round, they pulled out HM round saying that he can’t make it. It seems some folks are pretty happy. But the talent there is so so.
Had 3 interviews there and got ghosted after the third. Was for a data role - the second interviewer seemed to be at the same level as me and only knew SQL. Weird experience overall.
What does Asana do better than say Trello or Basecamp?
Asana has been known to have a terrible and elitist culture. You dodged a bullet— their shittyness shows in their product
i completely saw that too! when i asked rhe recruiter about the HM for this role she kept bragging she had an MBA from Harvard. I mean thats great but I wanted to learn more about what features she released and products she worked on
What do you make of the overwhelmingly positive Glassdoor reviews if it has a bad culture?
