Why do you think Azure doesn’t provide more details on Azure revenue? They always talk about percentage of growth vs numbers in $B. Do most people assume they give so many Azure credits when buying Office 365 or other services that the revenue is much lower than people assume? Amazon of course breaks out AWS, as does google with GCP. Anyone from MSFT have opinions seeing from inside?
Amazon didn't break out AWS for a long time. Also, many businesses have enterprise software agreements with Microsoft that cover everything from licensing Office to some cloud usage. It's probably non trivial to disentangle the two.
Good point. AWS doesn’t have the SW agreement issue that spans multiple areas, but GCP does and breaks it out. Probably not as bad as MSFT though. Even with my old company, I always assume if you don’t break it out then it’s not as good as people think…as they started combining things when revenue started decreasing in certain areas
I almost sound like I’m suffering from confirmation bias…ehhh
