How is the Azure SQL DB team like? I'm looking for, what's the kind of work they have, how is the management, growth prospects for L60 and WLB. YOE:1.8 TC:175k #microsoft #azure #sql #l60 #azuredata #azdat
Thanks for the insights. Is the stack more C++ or is it more C?
Engine c++ Service c#
Work is interesting but slow (a lot of process to get simple changes in) Engg system is pretty bad From what I see promos are not as frequent as in other orgs
Oh, that's good to know. So, even with decent performance, is 60 to 61 expected to be a 2+ year journey?
Any details on what's bad about Eng system?
It depends on your interest but I really enjoy it. Lots of growth in Azure right now. Depends on the team though. Many L60s have one-off improvements and bug fixes, and some build features. I think on-call is not great but it doesn't dominate your life. I work 40ish hours but I'd say on average 40-50 is reasonable. Once again, team dependent. I like the complexity of the codebase. The SQL engine is old but fascinating. Always something to learn and improve.
