On an infrastructure level, I think 2 years is a generous assessment. It’s probably closer to 4+.
As an Amazonian it dissapoints me to see how my fellow colleagues are talking about our lead. We really shouldn't get too comfortable just because we're ahead, we gotta step on the gas otherwise msft will eat our lunch in 5 years

I kinda disagree, everyone thinks PaaS is a great idea, but companies buy way way more IaaS in reality. That's one of the mistakes Azure made early on and then shifted more to IaaS after they fell behind. Source: worked in Azure for several years.
