I have an interview coming up with Amazon Pillpack (SDE). Just wondering if anyone knows what it is like working on the teams there? YOE: 7 TC: 210k #pillpack #wlb #culture
It’s a bit confused org still suffering through the acquisition pains, but the mission is awesome, and they have a couple of stellar PMs there - real hardcore no-BS gals and guys. If you want to relive building a commerce site at Amazon scale from early days - it’s definitely a great place to go for a couple of years.
Make sure you do the "islands" leetcode question. They asked me that twice when I interviewed for Pillpack a month ago. Overall, super easy interview which makes me think the team must be desperate to hire. Mission seemed cool but tech stack seemed bad and they are actively trying to re write everything. This is based on talking to the hiring manager. Initials were BW
Whats the tech stack like?
Sorry don't remember the specifics but I remember there was some legacy stack that existed before they were acquired and the HM openly said people don't like working on it. It was some obscure language like Ruby or something but don't quote me on that. And then they're trying to build out all new features on this new microservice using docker and generally more modern stack. Honestly seems like a good place to grow if you want to be part of that translating legacy code to new code stuff. I've just been there done that and want to work on established good tech for once instead of trying to build it from scratch.
Like any new/growing business, I'd expect pillpack to have that fresh, cool business kind of vibe and at the same time not having many established processes... So you'll probably have to do some DIY there
Which team?
Don't know yet
Hmm well, it's always worth interviewing (standard Amazon process) but your day-to-day is heavily reliant on the team you're on. Feel free to dm.
Which location Boston or SLC ?
Hey congratulations on the offer. How were the interviews? Can you provide some insights? Thanks
