If anyone has recently gone through the BCG DS case interview, I would love some advice. How should I prepare? Based on interview experiences recorded on Glassdoor, it seems like some common topics are pricing, recommendations, and time series. What other topics should I study before the interview? Also, how interviewer-led is the interview? Do I get one broad question that I have to solve, or will the interviewer ask multiple sub-questions? I’ve gotten conflicting information from recruiters. #bcg #bcggamma
You’ll get a scenario with some background information, and then you’ll have to figure out how to tackle the problem — what models to use, what considerations around the data and verifying results, and being conscious of the business context. Move step by step from collecting data, building model, applying results, questioning the conclusions, further applications. Think of it as a high level simulation of going from a problem to the solution, with all the bumps along the way. Don’t overindex on technical minutiae like the specifics of hyperparameter tuning. Maybe you’ll get an interviewer who wants to get into the weeds, but it’s usually much more integrative and focused on driving results.
Thank you so much!
Np, good luck!
