Hi All, I have an offer from BCG for Senior knowledge analyst from the renewable energy department and wanted to know if there’s any possibility of a layoff at BCG in the coming few months especially in light of 2023 recession talks and recent layoffs? Did try asking them and off-course they said it’s safe to join them and they haven’t had any major planned layoffs in the past.
What if someone tells you “yes” . Will you plan to not join them?
Yes.
They all did it during the pandemic. When companies wanna save money they save on what’s discretionary….consulting fees. Instead of $1million engagement they can hire 2 fte to do work
Or delay the consulting g work….which will cause mbb demand to c ⬇️
MBB did not lay off during the pandemic. That’s just wrong. Big four did - not us. I can’t speak for BCG specifically but Bain philosophically does NOT do lay offs. The partners take the hit and weather the storm. BCG is probably one of the safest places you can go. MBB collectively are quite conservative with growth. Take the offer.
Bcg did I had multiple friends get. Laid off
This is incorrect. BCG, McKinsey & Bain have an “up or out” model so they lay-off a % of people every year. During the pandemic, they got stricter and “transitioned” more people than usual. So yes, their business was impacted and people were “laid off” without calling it lay offs The safest businesses to work at to reduce risk of layoffs are ones that are recession proof (rare) or did not do mass hiring to meet short term demand (more likely, possibly established profitable companies) The other missing part of layoffs is individual performance & protection from layoffs. Hard to gauge this but if you’re in a mission critical role or have strong visibility to decision makers, you’re more safe than not
Last time BCG had layoffs was 2001, and that was regretted for years
BCG has been recruiting like anything for the last 6 months and the heavy recruitment is still going on for the next 2-3 months at least. I can’t see any layoffs happening at BCG due to pandemic or recession.
Can you please give me a referral
This did not age welll see news on @mckinsey
BCG layoffs are happening. BCG just doesn’t call them layoffs. They downgrade people with perfectly normal performance at very high rates and let them go through the “normal” review process to avoid bad PR.
