I thought I would retire at my current job but they are one of those age old companies that are stubborn and stuck in their ways. Change and growth is only important on the company level not the employee level. They’ve purchased sooooo many other companies but their benefits suck, the pay isn’t great, the work load is heavy. At this point I’m planning for retirement so I’m looking for a job with great pay, pension, top notch 401k and generous time off and medical benefits. Is that too much too ask??? I heard USAA offers this. 🤷🏾♀️
There are companies still offering pensions AND 401k??
Southwest Airlines! No pension though
Yeah a small few
Most major banks can probably offer you this assuming you're not in a revenue generating role
Workday - good WLB, top benefits, mega 401k up to 58k/year, about 30 days PTO + sick + holidays (close to 50 days off every year).
To answer your question about USAA, yes they do offer a pension AND a generous 401k match of double what you contribute (up to 4%). So you could maximize those options by doing 4% (you) + 8% (company matches) + 3% (company paid pension) = 15%. If saving is your goal, it’s a great place to do that. They are a digital first company and hire from everywhere. Not Fintech salaries, but decent with good bennies and WLB. I like it so far.
Thank you for that awesome insight!
That’s what friends are for!
