I’m a reasonably high income earner (600k/yr). Home, kids, investments, 529s, etc. I’ve been using H&R Block for more than 10 years and I’ve never had a reason to complain. As I’m making more and more money, I’m wondering if their tax pros are ‘good enough’ or if there is some magical alternative out there I should be looking at. ??
I have relatively complicated taxes and used to use a fancy tax pro. I tried H&R Block a few years ago and saw basically the same results and saved a little on the fee. I insisted on a senior person though.
I have a background in tax and can say you are likely over paying for someone who may not be a CPA. Find a local firm that can help with more than just tax compliance. Tax strategy may help you think long term (paired with a good financial advisor).
It all depends on the preparer you get And if they advise you proactively based on your situation rather than just file . Dm me for contact if you want to try Bay Area Jackson Hewitt location with a great tax preparer /EA with 15yrs experience
Stick with your tax pro - CPAs really don’t know personal tax and they just have data entry people doing your return and then they sign it
From my personal experience they are not good. They are very slow and sometimes don’t know all the tax rules.
