Verkada SWE culture
Hey, Got contacted by recruiter from Verkada for SWE position. They said they can match META compensation, just wanted to know a lit bit more about the culture and how is the management on the SWE side. Thank you. Blind tax: Tc: 230k(joined at the top) - still at Meta, not impacted by layoff. Before stock crash: 340k YOE:6 #Verkada @Verkada

A former colleague who was an awesome engineer worked at Verkada. He loved his team and the engineering org at the company but left in a year because of poor wlb and an overemphasis on generating $$$. He received multiple performance bonuses during his time there.

One of my best friend was laid off by Verkada when covid began, the process was awful. Don't trust their culture. Garbage company will only reveal true face when they don't need you. Meta handle well and decently.

Haha. They have some jerks in product. I complained about one of the guys who interviewed me- it was one of the worst interview experiences I’ve had - his name rhymes with Rochelle to the head of HR, who was very receptive so kudos to her. She put me in touch with the head of Product, Brandon Davito, who never really followed up with me initially. Later Brandon did try to reach out to me again, but only after I complained of his lack of responsiveness to Davila, the head of HR. Why do I have to complain twice about the same bad experience? Long story short, I experienced some of my worst recruiting experiences at Verkada within their product org. Not sure which other orgs has this kind of experience.

Out of curiosity, did you ask if they can match Meta or did they bring that up?
I asked for it, better to check compensation before interviewing, to avoid any surprises at the end.
