During pandemic I tried experimenting with alcohol and work and found out that couple of glasses of red wine in the morning helps me relax and makes all morning meetings more productive/less boring for me. Then shot of something strong during lunch keeps me still relaxed but real focused til the rest of the day. Overall I experience less stress and being more productive working this way, but I also have some weird guilt feeling that this some sort of cheating, in a way like using doping in a sport. Also I’m afraid I won’t be able to keep this lifestyle when we come back to office and everyone will realize I’m a scam. UPD. For people commenting that I have alcoholism problems. I don’t think I have, I exercise 5-6 times per week and I never drink before gym, while helping at work alcohol does totally opposite at gym. I drink only after exercising and exercising is the first priority, I never trade gym for the drink, when I start doing that, then I think it will indicate I have a problem, but so far I’m good.
Drinking problem?
No, I don’t think I have ones, I can stop anytime but then my productivity at work will suffer. And I feel guilty that I’m kinda use doping to be successful at work
That's what makes it addiction? If you feel you need to hit it for functioning best then it might be start of it. Nip it in the bud
No but not for ethics, i just can't concentrate
Lol so many of us just don't drink. Be straight, because we're all cheap assholes who don't want to spend money on booze right? 🙋
This result kinda surprises me too. Either folks are trolling or wtf? May be blind is all just kids, who legally cannot drink and don’t know how to get it.
Sounds like a drinking problem if you need alcohol to stay focused and relaxed.
How’s it drinking problem? If one uses banned substances in sport to get unfair advantage, it’s not drug abuse problem, it’s one just being scam.
OP, you comparing yourself boozing from early morning to professional athletes on performance enhancing drugs, is definitely a sign of a problem ;) :D
This is how alcoholism starts. Drinking before noon and doing it regularly is bad, bad, bad Everybody knows, what you should be doing is starting a day by smoking a joint (if it is legal in your state or if you can get a doctor-prescribed one in others) :D
I tried that, but it’s really hard to get the right dosage to get desired effect and not overdo it getting wasted. Alcohol effect is more predictable, even when I accidentally overdo it, I still can keep my shit together during the meeting, but weed, everybody will notice.
Haha, fair enough! Do whatever works for you, but yeah - be careful with alcoholism, it has ruined too many lives Good luck!
You are a high functioning alcoholic my friend
Run spellchecker on emails and chats. TUI happens, typing under influence.
Hey dude Fuck these people trying to bring you down. Do what works for you, and if at some point you start fucking up just come back to this checkpoint and start again with no alcohol this time
I usually will start cracking beers with my Friday lunch. If there's an operational event on Friday night that I need to come on for, I quickly become useless.
Ooh, Friday lunch beer is the best. I usually don’t drink beer during the week cause it’s too many calories, but Friday’s afternoon is the time when we finally can relax!
Sometimes?
I’m pretty aware that most people are against making it daily routine like me, but interested what people think if it’s done occasionally.
That's fine OP. And nothing unethical about it. Just maybe bad for your health if done daily
