I was laid off end of last year. When I was looking for the job, I still put my previous job as ‘present’ on the resume. Now, I got an offer, I need to fill out the employer history for background check, so I put the official termination month. Will they compare the background check result with my resume? If so, who? The background check company or the hiring company? Will my situation be a problem?
Most likely the FBI will get involved since it's a pretty clear case of fraud. I would come clean to the employer right away and hope that they can keep the feds off your back. If the whole thing goes sideways, head for Canada and don't look back.

You can always say you forgot to edit. Chill
They run the check on whatever you put in the background check form, it has nothing to do with your original resume. Just relax.
Weird! In order to get interviews, i can put any big tech names on my resume. When filling out the form, I put the real ones. Then background check does not make any sense.
They will have a form for you to fill out for background check before they do the check. Be honest in that.
Let’s say, a hypothetical situation , someone said they were working at G/F on their resume. When they filled out the form, they put their real employers’ name. Then who will find it?
