What all gets checked up in Background verification and how many past companies verification is done? What are the repercussions after being caught? I have 6 years of experience and a couple of gaps between job switches. I have worked in 4 companies yet. I am thinking if I should hide those gaps while applying for Google and Meta just by changing the end date. Currently working remotely from India for a US based startup. 7 years
Start end dates as well?
Fill the background verification form correctly
Keep it honest. These kinds of mini scams is why Indians get more rules and scrutiny against them. Everyone (including the committer) has to pay at some point for such short term selfish actions. Also it will come up in background check and you might get permanent red flag in your profile.
Do career gaps make it difficult to get interview at Google?
No, having limited scope and impact makes it difficult to get interviews. If you’ve done cool shit, done it well, and can describe it well. That’s what matters. Recruiters don’t have time or care to match up all the dates spread out across a resume to see if they all Align perfectly. And whoever google uses for BG checks, definitely validates, they came back at me for being off on my Uni dates by a few months (I dropped out and until then never actually knew, or cared, when my uni officially considered me no longer a student). But I didn’t lie about being a drop out, and just responded go with the dates the school said instead of what I said.
Shouldn't have lied
