I had given a couple of interviews at Square, OCI, Visa, Confluent, a few among the Faangs and I had not been able to crack any of them. Sometimes, I fail to get through the LC screening round, and if I get past that, I am struggling to some extent with System Design as well as explaining architectures that I've worked on. I fail to have answers for any questions that's asked at one level deeper. I just feel like an inferior software engineer and I dont feel like I'm good enough. All these rejections has made me depressed and feel worthless. What do I have to do to be good enough? Am I just going to remain a bad software engineer. What kind of practices can I follow to be better? I honestly want to be as good as a faang engineer. Continuously do mocks and work on the feedback. Do this for sometime and go back to the interviews.
You've now identified the problem - this is an undervalued skill. Now, work on the solution by fixing the problems. It takes time and that is all you got.
I have also not been able to crack Faang yet, but what I can tell you is to keep prepping every day. I noticed the more the preparation the easier you start seeing the interviews. I recently interviewed at Meta, likely I wonāt get an offer because I didnāt do optimal solutions for all problems, but looking back at it I was very close. That just tell me that with a little bit more prep, Iāll be able to crack it in no time. Same goes to you, make a plan and stay consistent. What is the worst that can happen get rejected? At least you tried, then you take that experience and prepare again for next time, so on until you achieve it. Doesnāt matter how long it takes you, focus on your own path and donāt be afraid to fail, once youāre in Faang you will look back and thank yourself you didnāt give up.
