My manager at walmart IDC has bias against certain individuals in my team. He would call them slackers and diversity hires when they are not on zoom call in front of me. And to make them look bad in public he would schedule demo meetings in off hours and ask them to present, which obviously goes bad without proper environment setup and data prep. I thought that I am fortunate that I am on his good side. But recently came to know that he has been talking shit about me as well. So I have been recording calls and taking snapshots of slack DMs which are abusive and rude. I had been looking out for a while because of this toxic situation and got one offer from Compass. Before I leave I want to expose this F**ker. I am ready to got all out and burn whatsoever bridge. What are my options and repercussions of my actions. I have also decided to leave walmart due to wlb issues and bad culture.
But don't you feel if we just leave without official complain or anything it will just keep on going. Don't you feel obligated to improve the world ? And make it a better place or safer place ?
Nothing’s gonna change even if we complain. This is not just limited to one or two managers. All teams at IDC are given unrealistic timelines and manager are pressurised to get it done.
Document everything. Every word! Secure a job, move away. If and when your skip will reach out asking to stay or a reason do share your feedback and documentation. That’s the best you could do.
Lol what's HR gonna do. Post it on LinkedIn if you have decided to go all in and burn it down
My only concern is that my new employer may get a bad impression about me because of public shaming.
Then post it in the main company slack channel. Happened in my company. Also it does get removed lightning fast people still managed to take screenshots
HR is there to protect the company, it your manager and certainly not you. Always remember that your are just a “resource”. *maybe* your skip will care. It’s doubtful unless there’s lots of turnover. If the manager is getting productivity out of his workers it’s unlikely the skip level will care. Removing the manager will simply make a lot more work for the skip. Your best bet is just to leave. You should never burn bridges.
What's the point of such life when you can't stand for what is right ?
The only way I see that I can make a change is start my own venture and set the culture right in future.
Just move on and don't get into this mess by sharing recording and messages. Some battles are not worth fighting at the cost of mental peace. Also chances are skip level manager already knows about this as he might be showing same behaviour in front of him by demeaning team members.
I am anyway leaving so was planning do this on last few days. I will feel mentally more sound if I report him.
Just inform skip level and not HR. Don't show any proof until they ask.
Can you give some examples of rude and abusive you recorded? That will give an idea if HR will really take it seriously.
HR anyway there to protect company and not to protect employee so it doesn't matter at all . They know how to arm twist and present things.
HR wouldn't protect manager if the allegations are serious. Protecting company doesn't always mean protecting managers.
Aside to the issue you are facing, I believe Compass lowballed you. Try to negotiate with them to get at least 72 LPA offer.
Yup this is my first offer, I am waiting for a few more in my notice period will start negotiating then.
please message the manager name on dm , I am planning to internally switch the team , Hope not end up there :p
DMed his name
I worked with Walmart leadership in the past and this is not the culture at VP and Director level, so I'd suggest not giving up hope about the company yet and maybe figure out another solution.
At what level did you work, I can connect with you over LinkedIn and discuss my options.
Worked as an external consultant with Rohith Kaila and also a bit with Sudeep Ralhan. I can tell you they are very inclusive leaders and also sensitive to building a diverse team. Not sure how much I can be of help, DM me.
