Looking for a Bain & Company referral to increase the likelihood of securing first-round interviews over the next month since the 1) projects variety and problem types in consulting, and 2) career development / mentoring opportunities make me believe this is the right next move for me Currently working in FAANG Product Management, with previous experience in M&A/Corp. Financing in BB/MM banks, boutique consulting experience. Thanks so much! #consulting #bain @Bain & Company #referral
Why lol
Wrong move, chief.
Curious why this is a wrong move? Consulting offers 3 things not present in product: 1) More variety in work / projects. 2) Better progression - there is a path to senior levels (as long as you work at it), whereas this path isn't as clear in product. 3) More career development from a consistent feedback standpoint which isn't as present in product. Let me know if I am missing something haha
As someone who moved from consulting to FAANG, I can confirm they’re disgusting parasitic organizations. You will not get the “career progression” or “feedback” you say you want.
In case you don’t find someone to refer you here, go on LinkedIn and reach out to people who work in the office of your interest.
Wrong move
Wrong move. Let me tell you why: 1. you are unlikely to stay in consulting in long run. 2. at the end of the day, you still need to play politics to climb the ladder, consulting won't teach you that. 3. since you are a PM, you've already learned how to play politics, so your advantage will be wiped out when you join consulting. There is a reason why so many MBB consultants want to jump into FAANG while very few FAANG PMs want to leave. You are obviously in the wrong direction.
You mean to tell me that office politics is not learned at management consulting firms?
