Ban only E-cigarettes? This makes no sense.

https://www.engadget.com/2019/06/19/san-francisco-e-cigarette-ban-vote-vaping-juul/ While regulation and sale to minors is totally valid, why ban the less harmful tobacco product and leave actual cigarettes in the stores.

What’s surprising in this? Just like every other liberal policy - coming out of their arses.

Walmart.com zayen Jun 20, 2019

Young kids are the primary users of Juul. You seem to be oblivious of how pervasive Juul use is among school going kids. A whole new generation of people is getting hooked to nicotine.

Amazon UUVv22 Jun 20, 2019

As a non-smoker and someone who has a two year old, I’m all for banning all kinds of smoking in public places. What I don’t like is this charade of doing something when all they are interested in is fulfilling some ulterior motive against a soft target when they should be going after the big guns instead. So yeah just like every other liberal policy, all this does is good talk with minimal to zero impact.

Can I ask what evidence or data is shown that e-cigs are less harmful? It seems to be a proactive measure since these are heavily marketed to the underage and the research is growing on how they are harmful. https://tobacco.ucsf.edu/first-evidence-linking-e-cigs-copd-population http://www.ecigarette-research.org/research/index.php https://www.lung.org/stop-smoking/smoking-facts/e-cigarettes-and-lung-health.html

Ecigs and regular cigs are both harmful. Big tobacco probably pushed this through

Amazon eichenwald OP Jun 20, 2019

Juul and ecigs are a total win for the consumer. It costs a small fraction of traditional cigarettes and is significantly less harmful for both active and passive usage. Water vapor with flavor and nicotine is undoubtedly less harmful than smoke and tar. Children should not be sold vapes or smokes. Period. Govt should focus on enforcement of that law and come down heavy on marketing targeted at young people.

Apple purifier Jun 20, 2019

But who is paying for the enforcement, e- Sigatette producers or taxpayers?

Groupon voLL87 Jun 22, 2019

Just saying that it's healthier isn't scientific or based on any hard data. What is your goal in posting if you only state your opinion based on assumptions and back it up with nothing. There isn't any evidence to say it is less harmful nor can that make sense when you're stating introducing moisture in your lungs is healthy which is what they do.

Maybe if they didn’t market them to children.

Apple VGqx42 Jun 20, 2019

Did they?

Rakuten FreeCandy Jun 30, 2019

Without a doubt, they marketed to kids. Candy flavors and fun sounding flavor names. That’s targeting kids, not grown adults. Froot Loops, Papa Smurf, SweetTart.

It’s a lobbing by the traditional cig companies, similar to gun companies lobbing

Amazon 10022004 Jun 21, 2019

Hahahaha...what? You do know Altria (America’s largest tobacco company) owns 35% of Juul?

eBay five100 Jun 21, 2019

$/smoker is far less for a vap vs a traditional cig.

Sale to minors is already regulated. Just enforce the damn laws already in place before making new ones.
