I'm an sde in USA and planning an internal transfer to India. It would be good too know: 1. Which city is better in terms of cost of living and welcoming to North Indian family. I'm sorry but my little knowledge about South Indian cities come from unreliable sources and is hard to trust. 2. Which city has better teams/work/growth opportunities.
Bangalore has a huge number of people from different parts of India so no problem in getting accepted but don’t expect everyone to be loving and kind. Cost of living is much higher, traffic is the worst compared to any other Indian city. Weather is a dream. HYD similarly has people from across India. Cost of living is among the lowest among well grown Indian cities. I would say people are more accepting. You’ll have all the necessities of a big city. Bangalore is much more cosmopolitan though.
Kolkata?
Kolkata? Yikes.
Bangalore will be a better bet for North Indian family
Bangalore is a good choice. You’ll feel pretty welcomed there. You wont have any problems being a “north” Indian. The main problem is the traffic and increasing pollution. But your family will be quite comfortable there seeing that Bangalore is super diverse.
I am from Maharashtra (relocated from bay area) and living in Bangalore. Bangalore has people from all over India. Most people I met say Kannada people are very good and helping overall. I have similar experience.
Seriously dude. Wtf
Lol ! Am I the only one missing connection here ? North Indian saying he has little knowledge and his sources are unreliable, while the Every place in Bangalore such as IT, railway, bank, etc etc are filled with North Indians ( sorry no offense) but I had to say this because I have seen North Indians all around in my city living for more than 3+ years and learn only to say “Kannad Gottilla” and are still living like kings !
Sorry man. As I said I've never been there so probably doesn't know the exact scenarios there.
What’s the connection between “Kannad Gottilla” and are still living like kings? 😳
Why don’t you guys split the country in northern and southern India?
It's already divided into states based on language and culture.. and every state has its own language or dilect
As long as you don’t expect ppl to speak your language you’ll be welcomed all over South India.
Never been to Hyderabad, and only spent one day in Bangalore. That said, traffic in Bangalore in next level insane. Took 2.5 hours to go 18km. And that apparently is normal. Just on the basis of the traffic I'd go for Hyderabad, as it's hard to imagine how it could be any worse.
Welcoming to North Indian families ???????? Please go to Banglore.... I am sure where ever you end up .. you will feel “ un-welcomed”
I'll be glad if whatever info I've from my unreliable sources turns out to be wrong.
I lived in both Hyderabad and Banglore. They are both super cities( I had my own start up in Hyderabad and worked for Walmart in Banglore). I am a North Indian btw .. born in Hyderabad ..
