It’s pretty high
Like the entire industry, the variance will dwarf the average. No one has figured out a good interview process. In practical terms that means failing an interview doesn’t mean you suck and hiring ex-G doesn’t mean you hired well.
Cool.
They should pay me to interview there
It’s not hard, it’s just supply and demand. Right now internal transfers can barely move. Anyone who isn’t referred in has 0 chance.

Leetcode bar: High Engineering bar: Unknown It’s unknown because they only ask leetcode
I’ve passed Google, Apple, and Microsoft interviews. They’re all pretty similar, Google just asked a ton of tree questions. It was about the same difficulty as Microsoft just you had to study trees (which I’ve used maybe once in my actual job)
Knowing trees doesn’t mean you’re a good engineer.
What about Apple? I heard they have many many rounds and hard to please so many people!
When you have millions of Pajeets studying for DS\A interviewing, without knowing anything else - well, then the bar is super low.
I passed HC, which means the bar is not that high... Some of the best engineers that I have worked with, work at a Google, and some of the most mid ones as well. So, whatever bar Google has, it seems to be uneven, or more luck based. Still, it is harder to get there than most other FAANGMULA due to their silly long hiring process.
Real talk. Most of us wont be able to pass G interviews. I would gladly move to G for the same TC. Tc 300 yoe 7
Isn't that mostly because of the high level of competition? I mean, guess that is part of the definition of what makes an interview hard. I would also go as far as to say, most people working at Google would be at risk of getting rejected given the hardest interviewers or panels at the company if they had to interview again.
