What an absolute shit show. Several of my former colleagues laid off, and they are looking to lay off thousands. Their former CEO was BFFs with Jeffrey Epstein and the new one is just cutting left and right. Meanwhile they have blunder after blunder. https://fortune.com/europe/2023/11/24/barclays-bank-1-billion-cost-cutting-plan-2000-layoffs/amp/
How is the severance?
2 weeks per year of service or 3 weeks per year if you’re over 5 years of service. Plus they pay out your vacation. It’s standard as I’ve seen better at other places. Plus you get like 3 months gardening leave.
sounds awesome!
Former CEO was friends with Epstein. Explains a LOT. They literally don't give two f*cks about women's safety in that company. I'm so stressed, don't feel safe at all at that place.
Exactly right.
Blatant discrimination. Manager gives all the good projects to guys. What a hell hole. And before anyone comes at me saying I'm incompetent, I got promoted this year, and my peers have acknowledged to me, I am technically sound. My boss is super biased, my work gets sabotaged, I get gaslighted, don't share tribal knowledge with me, but only with male devs. So far I have received lewd comments from 4 different males, no action was taken even after complaining to HR - who records every single conversation. Seriously my quality of life has degraded so much. I hope this company gets sued to bits
I was at Barclays for a few years. Worse few years of my life. They fired our MD because people were leaving in droves
Overdue
In Radbroke and Whippany some days you can’t even find a seat.
Which department was this ? I heard there were layoffs but I don’t think anyone from my department has been affected.
BX
BX is the org that supports many departments like financial crimes, markets, business banking. Which one of these were affected ?
I have confirmation from MD Level that there would be another round of layoff in Q1
What parts of the bank would be involved? Don’t think GTIS can be hit any harder than it was this week. Unless….
I know about TC02, there could be others as well.
Don’t underestimate them. Before I was laid off I was still dealing with the fallout from when they closed the Lithuania office. A metric ton of undocumented and unfinished crap they never got to finish.
Blame Elon for this and whatever idiots in investment banking that decided it'd be a good idea to loan him money to buy Twitter. The rest of us shouldn't be affected for their mistake.
Well, the results speak for themselves. Not just one investment. Barclays universal banking model isn’t producing according to what is written
They had some trading error in 2022. Barclays actually did some good things including financing the ARM IPO. Barclays always has some conduct issues year after year
There will be so many layoff that you will finally be able to charge your Tesla again
They can layoff and rehire in India to save money.
That’s exactly what they are doing. But to be honest the Indians I worked with in India weren’t nearly as good as us or uk. The skilled Indians emigrated from India. I had Indians asking me all kinds of stupid questions and I had to constantly hand hold. Even the H1Bs they brought on my team were shit, couldn’t even write a class in python properly.
Once you’ve trained them to be competent, they might get rid of the rest of you too.
