Bay Area houses for rent under $1000? What’s the catch?
I’m looking to move to a new apartment on craigslist and see there a couple houses, mostly 2 bedroom 1 bathroom, where monthly rent is about $1000, sometimes a little less. How is that possible and what’s the catch? That’s cheaper than even some shithole studios. Are there additional hidden fees?
Many of them are scams and some of them are manufactured homes.
Some manufactured homes command more than that.

Shared toilets. I saw a few in Seattle - no kitchen, no toilets, 300 sqft studio for 800 Dolla.

Los Gatos few shared accommodation are for 1000 a month .
You may be mistaking for a shared bedroom or student only homes. Post the Craigslist link to the least and we could know what the heck you are talking about.
They’re scams. They’ll ask you to send a deposit, without seeing the inside, or some other scammy crap. If it’s too good to be true...
